Beton Workshop

Our school’s Architecture and Design Society organized a workshop with C40 Design which is a four people group that believe in the beauty of the concrete. They taught us how to prepare concrete and shape it in desired forms with plastic molds and objects.

Every participant prepared their own cube molds with many different things and techniques. Some made cut outs from the cube, some added some figures or patterns to the cube.

Then we prepared the concrete mixture with cement, grout and water. C40 group told us the proper amounts of each substance. When we get the accurate consistency, we poured the mixture into the molds and wait for 3 days to make it dry and stiff.

Opening the molds was not easy at each of them because some objects stuck to the concrete because of its material. However, the result was very satisfying.

At my own concrete, I give a pattern to the one edge of the cube and made a big cylinder cut out at the center with a plastic pack. I also added two little circles to near the cylinder.

Then we exhibit our concrete cubes at the common area of the school.
